Ethics

Declaration of Policy

The Village of Poynette has declared that the proper operation of democratic government requires that public officials be independent, impartial, and responsible to the people; that government decisions be made in the proper channels of the government structure; that public office not be used for personal gain; and that the public have confidence in the integrity of its government.

Code of Ethics

The Village has established a Code of Ethics.  The purpose of the code is to establish guidelines for ethical standards of conduct for all officials, to set forth those acts or actions that conflict with the best interests of the Village and conflict with or are incompatible with the proper discharge of duties and required independence of judgement, and to direct disclosures by such officials of private financial or personal interests in matters affecting the Village.
